Lake Buchanan Skiff Trip
Impounded in 1938 with the construction of Buchanan Dam, Lake Buchanan is one of the crown jewels of the Highland Lakes Chain. Fed by the Colorado River, the lake carries layers of Texas history beneath its surface, including the submerged remnants of the old town of Bluffton that still appear during low water years. Today, Lake Buchanan offers exceptional fly fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, striped bass, hybrid bass, crappie, perch, catfish, carp, and gar. Both subsurface and topwater flies can be productive throughout the year, and with the ability to move by skiff, anglers can adapt to conditions and target fish holding across expansive structure. This trip delivers a rugged, big-water experience with the chance at memorable fish on every cast.
